Why Do Gardens Become Waterlogged?

One of the main causes of a waterlogged garden is compacted soil. Over time, heavy foot traffic, machinery, construction work, or even years of natural settling compress the soil, squeezing the air pockets that normally allow water to move freely underground.

When the soil is compacted, rainwater can no longer soak into the ground efficiently. Instead, it sits on the surface, creating puddles, muddy areas, and standing water. The problem becomes even worse if there is a dense clay layer or compacted subsoil beneath the surface, preventing water from draining away naturally.

Poor drainage doesn't just affect your lawn. Compacted soil also restricts oxygen and nutrients from reaching plant and tree roots, resulting in unhealthy grass, struggling plants, and stressed or declining trees.

Our Solution

At Arb Engineers, we use the revolutionary Vogt Geo Injector to treat the problem beneath the surface rather than simply masking the symptoms.

The Geo Injector drives compressed air deep into the ground to fracture compacted soil and create a network of underground drainage channels. These channels are then filled with a specialist biochar-based soil improver, helping water drain naturally while improving soil structure.

The result is healthier, better-aerated soil that absorbs rainfall more effectively, reduces standing water, and creates the ideal conditions for lawns, plants, and trees to thrive.

Instead of replacing your garden or installing expensive drainage systems, our innovative underground treatment restores the soil's natural drainage and promotes long-term ground health from the ground up.

How our Geo Injector works

1. Soil Decompaction

Our process begins by inserting the Vogt Geo Injector approximately one metre into the ground. High-pressure compressed air is then released to safely fracture compacted soil, creating a network of underground channels and air pockets. This relieves years of soil compression without the need for excavation, providing the foundation for healthier soil.

2. Injection of Enriched Biochar

Once the underground channels have been created, we inject a specialist enriched biochar into the newly formed voids. This long-lasting natural soil improver stabilises the channels while increasing the soil's ability to retain moisture, nutrients, and oxygen. Unlike temporary treatments, biochar remains in the ground, delivering benefits for years to come.

3. Improved Water Drainage

With the compacted soil relieved and biochar in place, rainwater can move freely through the newly created underground pathways instead of collecting on the surface. This significantly improves natural drainage, helping to eliminate waterlogged lawns, reduce surface flooding, and prevent standing water after heavy rainfall.

4. Healthier Soil & Stronger Plant Growth
