A: At Arb Engineers, we recommend that hedges be cut at specific times of the year to promote healthy growth and maintain their shape. The best time to cut most hedges is late winter or early spring, before new growth begins. This period is ideal because it minimizes stress on the plants and avoids interfering with the nesting season for birds, which is typically from March to August. However, certain species of hedges may have specific requirements, so it is always best to consult with our team of professional arborists for personalized advice. We take into account the type of hedge, local wildlife regulations, and your hedge’s health to determine the optimal cutting time. Contact Arb Engineers today to schedule an assessment and ensure your hedges thrive all year round.

A: Maintaining your trees is crucial for several reasons. Firstly, it enhances the overall health and longevity of the trees, allowing them to thrive and resist diseases or pests more effectively. Secondly, well-maintained trees contribute significantly to the aesthetics and value of your property, creating a more appealing and inviting environment. Furthermore, regular maintenance helps in identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards, such as weak branches that could fall and cause injury or damage during storms. At Arb Engineers, we specialize in comprehensive tree care services, including pruning, disease management, and structural assessments, to ensure your trees remain healthy, safe, and beautiful year-round. Proper tree care also supports environmental sustainability by promoting air quality and providing habitats for local wildlife.

In the UK, oak trees are generally best pruned during their dormant period, typically between November and February. Winter pruning allows the tree's structure to be assessed more easily and helps minimise unnecessary stress. However, the ideal timing depends on the tree's age, health and the work required. Before pruning, it's also important to check for nesting birds, Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and conservation area restrictions. At Arb Engineers, our qualified, fully insured tree surgeons provide professional oak tree pruning, crown reductions, crown lifting and deadwood removal across Norwich, Beccles, Norfolk and Suffolk. We assess each tree individually and recommend appropriate work to maintain its health, natural shape and safety.Contact Arb Engineers for professional advice and a free, no-obligation quotation.
